Ingredients (Meatballs):
500g lean beef mince
500g pork mince
1 onion finely chopped
2 cloves garlic chopped
1 tsp basil
1 tsp oregano
2 tbs freshly chopped parsley
1 beaten egg
1/2 cup breadcrumbs
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
2 tsp salt
black pepper
Olive Oil for frying
Ingredients (Sauce):
2 (420g) cans whole peeled chopped tomatoes
2 cloves garlic
2 tbsp fresh basil leaves chopped
2 tsp sugar
2 tbsp olive oil
1/4 cup water
1 tsp salt (adjust to taste)
Fresh Black Pepper
Method: (Meatballs)
In a pan fry the onions and garlic until translucent and set aside to cool.
In a large bowl mix all the ingredients including the cooled onion and garlic.
Roll the mixture into balls - the size of a golf ball is a good size
Heat the olive oil and fry the meatballs until brown and the juices run clear.
Method: (Sauce)
In a pot add all the ingredients and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat and allow to simmer for 15 minutes.
When the sauce is cooked, add the meatballs to the sauce and serve with spaghetti.
Looks so wonderful, must try at home recipe, for a change rather than curries.
